Data Protection &
Security
Broadly speaking, there are three basic aspect to data protection
and security:
- Physical data preservation, including surge protection and
backup systems
- Protection from corruption, including viruses
- Protection from destructive intrusion and spying, such as firewalls
and encryption for wireless networks
Physical Data Preservation
We recommend a variety of surge protection devices, including
the powerful UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) systems. A UPS protects
data against
power surges and outages in a way that no basic surge protector
can.
We have a variety of data backup solutions, critical to preventing
data loss. We analyze each client's needs, consider their budget,
and recommend and implement a system backup to keep their data
safe
and recoverable
in case
of a disaster.
Protection from Corruption
Computer viruses are widespread and getting worse all the time.
We consider anti-virus software installation an absolute necessity
for all our clients. We ensure our clients' systems routinely update
their virus definitions, and schedule virus scanning at intervals
appropriate for each individual system.
Firewalls and Encryption
Firewalls protect systems from destructive intrusion and spying
by hackers. We have both hardware and software based Firewalls,
depending
on our clients' needs.
Wireless networks are especially vulnerable to intrusion. Inexpensive
spyware enables strangers to access unencrypted wireless networks.
The intruders may simply "hijack" the target's network
to access the Internet, or they can invade the target's system,
harvesting
login names and passwords to access sensitive information.
Our encryption solutions protect our clients from such system
invasions, providing wireless network security for both businesses
and residential networks. |
